Research Topics

1. Aim of research
There are enormous documents around us. Moreover, the number is increasing every day. We are working on the development of a system that provides support to obtain knowledge as easily as possible from documents such as newspaper articles, SNS documents and Web pages.

2. Research Topics
(1) Topic Tracking from Newspaper Articles
If serious incidents occur, the articles on that incident appear on the newspapers for many days. If you want to get information about that incident, you have to collect the articles that event. We are studying topic tracking from newspaper articles using natural language processing technology and machine learning technology.

(2) Multi-Document Summarization
Even if you can automatically extract subsequent articles, it is hard to read all the articles if there are a lot of extracted articles. In addition, the same content may be written across multiple articles. In order to obtain knowledge as easily as possible from multiple extracted articles, it is necessary to summarize the extracted multiple articles. So we are studying on automatic summarization for multiple articles.

(3) Question and Answering System
If you know which information you want to know, you do not need to read all the documents. If you can question the information you want to know about the computer and get the appropriate answer, the purpose may be reached. We are also deveroping question answering systems which understand the query we usually use and output appropriate answers.
